ClientEarth letter to Lloyd’s of London – risks of underwriting Adani’s Carmichael mine

Campaigners at Unfriend Coal recently quizzed several major insurers to see who had plans to insure Adani’s Carmichael mine in Australia. Most came back assuring them they wouldn’t – but Lloyd’s didn’t. Lloyd’s also didn’t release its coal exclusion policy for investment to the public last year.

ClientEarth lawyers have written to Lloyd's of London to put the group on notice of the legal and financial risks associated with involvement in the Carmichael mine, and urging them to make a public statement confirming they will not be backing it – as well as clearing up what their stance is on coal.
